Three games played across the weekend with our Under 14-1’s, Fourth XI and Sixth XI all playing semi’s.
U14-1’s – We won the toss and opted to bat. Andrew started but couldn’t take off. Pavan shone though, making 24 not out and making sure we didn’t go home too early. Aarav & Austin bowled well with 1 wicket each, but Pavan was our star of the match with 2 wicket. Finn’s captaincy was elite, ensuring the team held their heads high and kept playing to win right to the very end. Simply put, we were beaten by a better side. Well done Rowville on a fantastic season.
Fourth XI – Winning the toss was great, but being 4/41 soon after was not. Thankfully Baz and Seth held on to the change of innings and set us up for some Sunday action. Our bowling was spot on all afternoon with Ryzie, Deepan and Seth getting a couple each early but boy did Ryan then turn it on, tallying five and bowling them out. Massive congrats to Schnappy for his efforts behind the stumps too.
Sunday was never going to be a walkover, but we only needed 50 runs. Seth and Barry added a couple more but captain Paul made light work of with a run a ball til we passed them down.
Sixth XI – Was going to be a tough gig when our father/son side was taking on some stars of yesteryear but our junior panthers were brave in the battle. Harley and Corey holding the ball well, Dev kept it tight and snatched two, and a little support from the old boys too. The chase was never going to be easy so we gave the kids a crack and they put on a valiant effort, well done Finn, Dev & Jack, falling short but never giving up. Couldn’t get that fairytale grand final match, but we know next season you will be playing to win.
You know what that means – Our Fourth XI are playing at home this weekend in a Grand Final against Kilsyth. Get down to training this Thursday and support your grand finalists, then pack out Kimberley Reserve all weekend long and cheer Chirnside Park on.
Go Panthers 🏏💛🖤🏏
